Abhaya Bhavan
The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (Indian Orthodox Church) Diocese of Kunnamkulam has started an aging center called “Abhaya Bhavan” in remembrance of the Malankara Metropolitans of Kunnamkulam and His Holiness Baselios Paulose II. Abhaya Bhavan will be functioning as a charitable institution that can provide a relaxing life to helpless people in their old age regardless of gender, caste and religion. The institution will be rendering yeoman services to vulnerable sections of society. Abhayabhavan has the capacity to accommodate around 100 inmates.
Abhaya Bhavan will soon start functioning in the 20,000 sq ft CDM Hospital building which stopped functioning 25-30 years ago. It was a dream project of His Holiness to take care of the poor and needy people of the society.
Our mission is to be a helping hand for the needy and elderly in our society, providing spiritual, social, cultural, and moral support to the weaker sections regardless of gender, creed, or religion. We strive to bring happiness and peace to the elderly, fostering a cordial and friendly atmosphere among all residents. Through our efforts, we aim to convey to society that elderly individuals are a true blessing.

By the grace of God, H H Baselios Marthoma Mathews III (Malankara Metropolitan and Catholicos of the East) has blessed Abhyabhavan, the home for Old age & infirm.
Smt. Veena George, Hon. Minister for Health and Woman and Child Development of Kerala has inagurated the function after consecration of re - innovated building of Abhyabhavan.
President of Abhyabhavan, H G Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios Metropolitan (Kunnamkulam Diocese ) inagurated the office of Abhyabhavan.
The website, Abhyabhavan.com has been inagurated by H G Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios and Abraham Mar Stephanos.
As part of the renovation work of Abhay Bhavan, the dedication of the main entrance was done on 18.03.2024 under the patronage of H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios.

With great joy, we would like to let you know that our Diocese of Kunnamkulam is embarking on a new journey. We are proud to inaugurate and reinstate ‘Abhayabhavan’, a home for the elderly, in commemorative honour of the revered fathers of Kunnamkulam, Pulikkottil Thirumeni and Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, the Catholicos. The aim of Abhayabhavan is to revive the existing elderly care centre at Kottapady with better and enhanced facilities. Undoubtedly, this new ‘Abhayabhavan’ will be an ideal icon of our Holy Church and this diocese, which will offer solace to the isolated elderly community and serve as a testament to India’s rich cultural heritage.
